Could David Beckham buy Man Utd?

Manchester United legend David Beckham is open to being a part of a bid to buy Manchester United following news that the Glazer family are keen to sell.

On Tuesday, the much-maligned United owners announced that they are open to selling the club - news which was well received by Red Devils' fans.

A statement on the news read: “Manchester United plc announces today that the Company’s Board of Directors is commencing a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club. As part of this process, the Board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the Company."

A number of suitors have already being noted, with United fan and INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe believed to the be current frontrunner to purchase the club.

According to FT, Old Trafford legend Beckham is open to discussing being a part of a potential bid for the club from any of the suitors.

The financial publication note that, while Beckham isn't able to make a bid to purchase the club by himself, he is willing and able to team up with other investors.

Beckham came through the youth ranks at Manchester United and enjoyed an incredibly successful decade-long spell at the club, winning six Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League in that time.

The ex-England captain went to play for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and PSG thereafter, but remains a club legend at Old Trafford and would be a hugely valuable face of any takeover bid.

Beckham also currently owns MLS side Inter Miami, after exercising a $25m option to create the expansion team back in 2014, as well as a 10% stake in League Two club Salford City alongside former United teammates Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville.
