Club Leon has signed Adonis Frias from Argentine First Division team Deportivo Defensa y Justicia, ahead of the 2023 Liga MX Clausura. He joins the Mexican side on a four-year contract, after managing a career total of five goals and one assist in 120 games.

"Because reinforcing is sheltering, reinforcing is clothing, reinforcing is sheltering. This is Club Leon's winter reinforcement. I am Adonis Frias, a new Club Leon player, and together we will warm up the winter,” the team announced through a social media video.

Frias stands as Club Leon’s fifth signing of the offseason, joining Brian Rubio, Ivan Moreno, Jesus Angulo and Lucas Romero. The wave of reinforcements comes at the request of new head coach Nicolas Larcamon, who replaced Renato Paiva following a disappointing 2022 Apertura campaign.

Club Leon concluded the last tournament in 10th place on the table with 22 points in 17 games and a record of 6W-7L-4D. The team qualified to playoffs, before the short-lived run saw them lose 1-0 to Cruz Azul in the first round.

Larcamon now wants to guide Leon back to its winning ways with several new reinforcements to strengthen the roster.

The 2023 Clausura kicks off on January 6 as Club Leon face Mazatlan at the Estadio de Mazatlan.
