Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Christian Eriksen will be back in the matchday squad for the visit of Everton on Saturday.

The Danish midfielder injured his ankle in the FA Cup victory over Reading back in January and there were early concerns that Eriksen would miss the rest of the season because of the issue.

Fortunately, while Eriksen did miss over two months of action, he has been back in United training over the past week and will now be in line for a return on Saturday.

"The good news is Christian Eriksen is back in training and he will be back tomorrow in the squad," Ten Hag confirmed.

The boss also revealed that left-back Luke Shaw, who was injured last time out against Brentford, will not be part of the action at the weekend as he continues to recover.

Ten Hag was quick to praise United's medical staff for their work with Eriksen, who has missed the Red Devils' last 16 games across all competitions.

"I was so angry about that tackle and he was away - at first we feared we had lost him for the whole season but he worked very well," Ten Hag continued.

"I think the medical department did really well and in togetherness he is already returning to the squad and so is available for the final stages of the season. We are very pleased with that."

Man Utd's record without Christian Eriksen

Eriksen was just emerging as a key player for Ten Hag when he suffered his injury, which many feared could derail United's season.

Across their 16 games without Eriksen, United have lost just twice - the 7-0 humiliation against Liverpool and the recent 2-0 loss to Newcastle - picking up 11 wins in the process.

The defeat against the Magpies also coincided with a suspension for Eriksen's usual midfield partner, Casemiro, who will be back among the squad alongside the Dane to face Everton.
