If you're not an energetic central midfielder, a robust target man or Victor Moses, Antonio Conte can be a difficult man to please, and Christian Eriksen has become the latest player to fall out with the notoriously intense Inter boss.

According to Calciomercato, I Nerazzurri are looking to cut their losses with the Danish playmaker just a year after he signed from Tottenham in a situation which resembles an extremely cut-price recreation of Dennis Bergkamp's departure from the club.

Luckily for Eriksen. his stock hasn't fallen that low after a year of 6AM bleep tests with the former Italy boss, and he'll have plenty of suitors even after a year which has seen him spending more time being substituted for a 35-year-old Borja Valero than he would've wanted.

So without further ado, here are seven clubs who could end up cashing in on Eriksen's uncertain situation in northern Italy...

1. PSG

Fact that only really sad Spurs fans know: Eriksen scored one of the all-time great meaningless goals in a pulsating International Champions Cup match against PSG in 2017.

Slightly more relevant fact: Julian Draxler aside, when Neymar plays on the left wing PSG lack a creative figure in the centre of the park, and having expressed an initial interest in Eriksen when his contract was running down at Spurs, they could well come back in for the Dane to bolster their squad options.

2. Borussia Dortmund

Eriksen played against Dortmund four times in the Champions League with Spurs and won all four of those matches - so it's safe to say they were probably sick of the sight of him.

But according to Fabrizio Romano's 'Here We Go' podcast, their former adversary came close to joining their ranks on loan over the summer, with Inter turning them down.

Could Dortmund come back in January for another bite of the cherry? The thought of him sliding through inch-perfect through balls to Erling Haaland must be keeping them awake at night...

3. Chelsea

From his pinpoint assist to Dele Alli in the 2017 FA Cup semi-final to his absolute missile of a goal at Stamford Bridge a year later, Eriksen has always enjoyed playing against the Blues, even ending his current manager's unbeaten run with two fantastic assists against Chelsea in January 2017.

Spurs' players of that era have always insisted how much they reserved their greatest hatred for Chelsea above any other team, but could Eriksen end up joining his old enemies in west London?

Well...probably not. Chelsea reportedly had a look at their former tormentor over the summer but having signed Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz, the Dane would probably be one attacking midfielder too many.

4. Bayern Munich

Though Eriksen's most recent memories of Bayern Munich will be pretty harrowing, who wouldn't want to join them right now?

From Eriksen's perspective, there are some real advantages to the move - it would bring him closer to his native Denmark, and it's a club that plenty of his compatriots have turned out for.

Indeed, just as Eriksen turned agent to facilitate his international teammate Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg's move to his old club Spurs, Hojbjerg could return the favour by extolling the virtues of life in Bavaria.

5. Milan

Now, this is where we get really controversial.

A number of potential suitors in Serie A for Eriksen were mentioned as part of Calciomercato's report, including Juventus, Lazio and Roma - but more intriguing amongst them were Inter's bitter rivals Milan.

Imagine, Eriksen leaves the hill sprints and wing-backs behind to join Stefano Pioli's tricky Rossoneri, chipping up perfect deliveries for Zlatan to bicycle-kick into the back of the net and leading them to a first title in a decade.

Given it's Italy, where every player has played for 20 different clubs, there would certainly be less of a stigma around the switch.

6. Tottenham

There's a bit of a craze for bringing old players back in N17 at the moment, and before long Spurs will be fielding Gareth Bale alongside Luka Modric, Rafa Van der Vaart and Gary Doherty.

This one would actually make a lot of sense, however - it's undeniable that the best solution when you've failed to replace Christian Eriksen is just buying the bloke back again, and according to Romano Spurs considered doing exactly that over the summer.

From his winner at Manchester City to years of heroics in Europe, Eriksen and Spurs gave each other some brilliant times (lack of trophies not withstanding), and for nostalgia reasons alone this therefore has to happen.

7. Arsenal

If Eriksen returning to Spurs would be a heartwarming and romantic reunion, him going to Arsenal would be, by contrast, extremely funny.

There's never been any serious speculation linking Eriksen with the Gunners, but it would make plenty of sense - Mesut Ozil has been frozen out, they're about as creative as Roy Hodgson's England side, and they have experience winding up the Lilywhites in the transfer market.

Chalk this one down as 'unlikely', but stranger things have undoubtedly happened.
