After securing their first win of the Premier League season against Luton last time out, Chelsea will be looking to seize the momentum as they host Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

It was a victory Mauricio Pochettino so desperately needed after his side were beaten at West Ham on matchday two, but one they got thanks to a marvellous showing from Raheem Sterling, who scored twice in the 3-0 victory.

The Blues then edged past AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, and will play their third successive home game this weekend with Forest coming to town. Despite being beaten twice, Steve Cooper will undoubtedly be optimistic about his side's chances this season. Their crucial victory against Sheffield United arrived either side of slender defeats at Arsenal and Man Utd.

Chelsea team news

It was no surprise that Pochettino shuffled his pack for the midweek cup victory, but we should see the Argentine roll out a similar XI to the one that beat Luton 3-0 on matchday three.

However, with question marks arising over Conor Gallagher's future, we could perhaps see Enzo Fernandez drop into the midfield pivot again and Noni Madueke come into the side after his impressive performance against AFC Wimbledon.

Chelsea's injury list remains extensive, with Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Carney Chukwuemeka, Benoit Badiashile and Christopher Nkunku all still absent,

Nottingham Forest team news

Steve Cooper deployed what was close to a complete second string XI on Wednesday as Forest crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Burnley.

The visitors will be without the suspended Joe Worrall, while Brennan Johnson might not be on the club's books by the time the summer transfer window slams shut amid interest from Tottenham. Anthony Elanga could replace the Welshman in the XI if that is the case.

Moussa Niakhate will likely come in for the suspended Worrall at the heart of Forest's back three.

Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest score prediction

Sterling's stellar form and Jackson's early promise will give Chelsea supporters hope of another victory this weekend. The Blues have endured a mixed start to the campaign so far, but Pochettino is undoubtedly laying some strong foundations.

It's going to take some time, though, to see this Chelsea side at their apex.

Thus, Saturday's contest is a tricky contest for the Blues, with Forest performing well on their two recent away trips at 'Big Six' opposition. However, both Arsenal and United proved that their backline is far from impenetrable, although the visitors will boast a distinct threat on the counter. Nevertheless, Chelsea should edge a cagey affair.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Nottingham Forest
