Chelsea continue their dreary trudge towards the end of the season with a Stamford Bridge clash with European hopefuls Brighton on Saturday.

The Blues were beaten in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Real Madrid on Wednesday and fans are hopeful of a top ten finish rather than any silverware.

The Seagulls’ push for a top four spot took a hit when they were beaten by Tottenham in north London last time out, though they weren’t helped by a number of questionable referee decisions.

Here’s what you need to know about the game.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea centre back Kalidou Koulibaly limped off in the 2-0 defeat to Real on Wednesday. If he fails to recover by Saturday, he'll likely be replaced by a midfielder should Frank Lampard revert to a back four formation.

Carney Chukwuemeka has picked up a knock and needs to be assessed, while Armando Broja remains a long-term absentee. Ben Chilwell is available for Premier League duty after his red card in midweek, but Marc Cucurella could start ahead of the England international.

Chelsea predicted lineup (4-3-3): Arrizabalaga; James, Fofana, Silva, Cucurella; Gallagher, Fernandez, Kovacic; Sterling, Havertz, Felix.

Brighton team news

Levi Colwill is unable to face parent club Chelsea, so Adam Webster will partner Lewis Dunk in central defence for the Seagulls. Evan Ferguson could replace Danny Welbeck up front but the starting XI will be largely similar to the one that was narrowly beaten at Tottenham last time out.

Jakub Moder is getting closer to returning from a long-term knee injury but is unlikely to feature at Stamford Bridge. Adam Lallana and Jeremy Sarmiento are also ruled out.

Brighton are still waiting to find out whether manager Roberto De Zerbi will be handed a second touchline ban of the season after getting sent off at Spurs.

Chelsea vs Brighton score prediction

Chelsea fans have been subjected to some lengthy spells without goals this season. The defeat at Real was the fourth game on the trot in which the Blues have failed to score, with Lampard failing to inspire any energy from his attack in his two so far.

Brighton return to the capital having suffered a few injustices on their last away trip. However, temperament issues again came to the fore last weekend in the face of some poor officiating.

It's a tough one to call, but Lampard may get his first point back at Chelsea while further harming Brighton's push for Europe.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Brighton
