For Chelsea supporters, the new Premier League season has gotten off to an exciting start.

For the rest of the division, it's been pretty frightening to witness.

A second-string Blues cruised to victory against Crystal Palace on the opening day, and they then travelled to north London, where Romelu Lukaku announced his return with a goal in the very, very comfortable 2-0 win over Arsenal.

So far, so extremely good. But Chelsea face a daunting trip to Anfield on Saturday, where Liverpool will be hoping to continue their own 100% record in the new Premier League campaign. Thomas Tuchel will have to get his tactics spot on in front of a raucous Merseyside crowd, so which players should he choose?

Here's how Chelsea could line up against Liverpool on Saturday.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - A reassuring figure between the sticks for the Blues, it sometimes goes under the radar what an impressive job Mendy has done at Stamford Bridge.

Cesar Azpilicueta (CB) - An experienced head, but Azpilicueta will need to use all that knowhow to stop Mane marauding down the flank on Saturday.

Andreas Christensen (CB) - It's taken longer than first expected, but Christensen has finally begun to fulfil his potential in blue. Tuchel has unlocked the Dane.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) - A leader in the back line. Chelsea are trying to tie Rudiger down to a new long-term contract, and it's no surprise either. The man is top quality.

2. Wing-backs & midfielders

Reece James (RWB) - What a performance in north London! James left the Emirates with a goal and assist to his name, as the cries for him to be England's number one right-back grow louder.

Jorginho (CM) - 2021 Ballon d'Or winner Jorginho will start at the heart of this midfield on Saturday, where he will wow everyone with his Ballon d'Or-winning abilities once more.

N'Golo Kante (CM) - It's harsh on Mateo Kovacic after some solid performances, but Kante has to start if he's fit. The Frenchman came on as a substitute against Arsenal, and should play the full 90 against the Reds.

Marcos Alonso (LWB) - Ben Chilwell has yet to convince Tuchel that he should be starting every week, so Alonso could continue to storm up and down the left flank.

3. Forwards

Kai Havertz (RF) - The boy is growing. Havertz is getting better and better every week, and Saturday will be an excellent match to gauge how far he's come since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen.

Romelu Lukaku (ST) - Back in blue and back among the goals. Lukaku produced a dream debut against Arsenal, scoring his first goal for Chelsea at the Emirates. He'll have a much tougher afternoon at Anfield up against Virgil van Dijk, though.

Mason Mount (LW) - One of the key players in this Chelsea team, Mount will be tasked with finding space and feeding his fellow attacking teammates. Still underrated, even in 2021, he got the winner at Anfield in March.
