Chelsea travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton in the Premier League on Saturday night, looking to keep pace with the front-runners at the top of the table.

With many first team players rested during the midweek 1-1 draw against Krasnodar, Frank Lampard will want another positive result away from home in a clash that doesn't hold good omens for them.

However, Lampard's side have improved remarkably in defence this season and are also the second top scorers in the league so far, with many tipping the Blues for a title charge.

Here's the team Chelsea should field to secure victory on Merseyside.

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - The Senegalese stopper has been nothing short of a revelation since he arrived in England. Should keep his place between the sticks as he chases his sixth clean sheet of the campaign.

Reece James (RB) - Has made the right-back spot his own with a string of stellar defensive displays. Has a sensational delivery on him - one that will excite the in-form Olivier Giroud.

Kurt Zouma (CB) - The Frenchman has made his presence felt in both boxes this season, having already bagged four goals. His confidence is growing with each game and he's developed a solid partnership with Thiago Silva at the heart of the defence.

Thiago Silva (CB) - Having not featured midweek, Silva should return to the starting XI alongside regular partner Zouma. His experience and leadership skills appear to be rubbing off nicely.

Ben Chilwell (LB) - Has built up good chemistry with the likes of Timo Werner and Mason Mount on the left flank, but has looked shaky when called upon to defend of late.

2. Midfielders

N'Golo Kanté (DM) - The Frenchman's improvement in recent weeks has gone under the radar, but he's the beating heart of this Chelsea side. Safe bet to start in the middle of the park.

Mason Mount (CM) - He keeps getting better and better with every passing game. The industrious England international should keep his place on the left side of a midfield three.

Kai Havertz (CM) - The German has shone since returning from his absence, having previously tested positive for COVID-19, and his creativity and artistry will help break down the Toffees' defence.

3. Forwards

Christian Pulisic (RW) - After sorting out his hamstring issues and with Ziyech finding his own, the American can be the key to unlock the Everton defence.

Olivier Giroud (ST) - The Frenchman can equal the club's Premier League record by scoring in a seventh consecutive start in the competition, as he bids to make the centre forward position his own after emerging onto the scene of late.

Timo Werner (LW) - Seems to have made peace with been shifted out wide, but Werner is yet to find the killer instinct in front of goal that Lampard brought him in for.
