Chelsea were unable to overcome a spirited Krasnodar side in their final Champions League group game at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, though Jorginho’s penalty ensured they remained unbeaten in Group E.

The visitors took a shock lead midway through the first half after some neat Krasnodar build-up play left Chelsea chasing shadows, before former Newcastle man Remy Cabella fired past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The goal shocked the home side into life and they were level just a few minutes later. Some clever forward play from Tammy Abraham saw him hacked down in the area by Kaio, offering Jorginho the chance to slot home the resulting penalty kick, a chance he never looked like passing on.

The home side continued to press for a winner throughout the second half but they just couldn't find a way past a resolute Krasnodar backline, with Abraham in particular enduring a frustrating evening in front of goal.

That's the match highlights out of the way, now to those Chelsea player ratings.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK) - 6/10 - His first appearance form the club in nearly two months since the Premier League draw with Southampton. Caught slightly wrong-footed for the Krasnodar opener but little blame could be placed on him.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB) - 6/10 - Captain for the night on his return to the first team. As solid a display as we've come to expect from the Spaniard with plenty of attacking intent.

Antonio Rüdiger (CB) - 7/10 - Calm and composed in possession and rarely looked like breaking a sweat. Doesn't seem to be in Frank Lampard's first-team plans at the moment but has shown in his fleeting appearances that he still has a big part to play at the club.

Andreas Christensen (CB) - 6/10 - Offered plenty of opportunities to stroll into midfield with the away side sitting deep, but seemed surprisingly reluctant to take the chance. Nevertheless, defended well on the evening.

Emerson Palmieri (LB) - 5/10 - A constant outlet down the Chelsea left but rarely found a moment of quality when he endeavoured into the final third. Unable to beat the first man with a number of crosses.

2. Midfielders

Mateo Kovacic (CM) - 5/10 - Withdrawn with little over 15 minutes to go after a disappointing evening. Can't be faulted for lack of effort but little to show for his impressive work rate.

Jorginho (CM) - 6/10 -
The coolest man in the ground (yes, there were other people there!) as he barely even looked at the ball before stroking home from the penalty spot.

Billy Gilmour (CM) - 7/10 -
Huge day for the youngster with his first Champions League start. Constantly looking to get on the ball in midfield and certainly wasn't overwhelmed by the occasion.

3. Forwards

Tino Anjorin (RW) - 7/10 - A solid first outing for another of Chelsea's Champions League debutants. Showed a willingness to stray in from the wide areas and showed good linkup play when he came infield.

Tammy Abraham (ST) - 6/10 - Fantastic turn to manoeuvre himself a yard of space before being hacked down in the area. Put in a brilliant shift for the team but the ball just wouldn't fall for him as he endured a frustrating evening.

Kai Havertz (LW) - 5/10 - Should have handed his side the lead with his final touch of the game, though his poor touch let him down. The story of the German's night on the whole.

4. Substitutes

N'golo Kante (CM) - 6/10 - 15 minute cameo for Kante, but he was unable to really get anything going.

Timo Werner (LW) - 6/10 -
Lampard would have preferred to keep Werner on the bench all night, but called on his big-money signing in search of a winner. No such joy on this occasion.

Olivier Giroud (ST) - N/A
