Chelsea and New England Revolution have agreed a deal for Djordje Petrovic, sources have confirmed to 90min.

The Blues have been looking to bring in another goalkeeper after sanctioning exits for Kepa Arrizabalaga, on loan to Real Madrid, and Edouard Mendy, who has joined Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, this summer.

90min revealed on Friday that Chelsea had made a move for Serbia international Petrovic, who is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in MLS, with the intention of the 23-year-old serving as understudy to summer arrival Robert Sanchez.

And negotiations have now yielded an agreement between the two parties, with sources confirming to 90min that Chelsea have agreed to pay $21m (£16.5m) to New England for Petrovic.

Petrovic is understood to be keen on making the move to Stamford Bridge - personal terms are not expected to be a problem - and will head to England for a medical after making 48 appearances for the Revs since arriving in April 2022.

His final outing for the club now looks to have been the Leagues Cup defeat to Liga MX outfit Queretaro, which saw New England crash out 5-4 on penalties after the game had finished 1-1 in regulation time.

Capped twice by Serbia, Petrovic will be expected to challenge Sanchez for a starting berth and is likely to assume the role of cup goalkeeper for Chelsea.

Should the move complete as expected, Petrovic will become Chelsea's ninth major signing of the summer. Sanchez, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo, Axel Disasi, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia have already joined Mauricio Pochettino's revolution, with Chelsea's committed spending well in excess of £300m.
