This is where the Carabao Cup starts to get a little interesting.

Now that several rounds have passed, it's time for the last eight to go head-to-head in the quarter-finals. With some of the big hitters having been knocked out already, including the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, this year could serve as an opportunity for an unlikely champion.

We have one entirely EFL quarter-final fixture between League One Port Vale and Championship Middlesbrough, while six other Premier League sides will be competing to make the final four.

Here are 90min's Carabao Cup quarter-final predictions.

Three of the four Carabao Cup clashes coming this midweek will take place on Tuesday night, including a battle between two of the in-form sides in the Premier League. Everton host Fulham in the quarter-final, both sides perhaps eyeing the chance for a very rare piece of silverware.

Sean Dyche's side have been flying in the Premier League, beating Burnley 2-0 at the weekend. The Toffees have already beaten the Clarets in this year's Carabao Cup too, as well as coming out on top against Doncaster Rovers and Aston Villa. Fulham, who have also been in impressive form, knocked out Tottenham in the second round before conquering East Anglia's Norwich City and Ipswich Town.

There are only two non-Premier League sides remaining in this year's competition, with one bound to make it to the semi-final. Port Vale, currently sat 15th in League One, take on Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough of the Championship. Boro will be strong favourites for the clash. especially given Port Vale have only faced League Two sides en route to the quarter-final.

Chelsea come up against Newcastle United in arguably the biggest tie of the round and Tuesday night could serve as a welcome distraction for the Blues. Mauricio Pochettino's side have been incredibly hit and miss in the Premier League, with the Carabao Cup probably the club's best chance of winning silverware under their new Argentinian coach this season.

For the Magpies, they will be looking to avenge last year's Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester United. Eddie Howe's side have already humbled the Red Devils in the competition this year by beating them 3-0 at Old Trafford, also knocking out treble-winners Manchester City.

Liverpool have only won the Carabao Cup once since Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield eight years ago, lifting the trophy in 2022 when they did the domestic cup double. The Reds welcome West Ham United to Anfield in Wednesday's only quarter-final, knowing they have already won this fixture 3-1 in the Premier League this season.

Now that West Ham have the taste for trophies following their Europa Conference League success, the Irons could be a tough team to stop. Having won away at Lincoln City in the third round, David Moyes' men then ran out comfortable 3-1 winners against last season's Premier League runners-up Arsenal in the fourth round.
