Atlanta United's Caleb Wiley set a new club record in his team's 4-1 rout of CF Montreal that saw them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Wiley has continued to impress and improve since making his MLS debut last February in Atlanta's 3-1 triumph over Sporting Kansas City, where the versatile player also scored.

In 2023, Wiley has made 29 appearances (27 starts) for Atlanta and registered four goals and three assists. Wiley is more than capable of playing at left-wing and left wing-back, but has featured primarily as a left-back this campaign.

As the Atlanta, Georgia native was named in the starting lineup against Montreal, Wiley set a new record - playing the most games by a homegrown player in the club's young history with 53.

Wiley has done all this at just 18 years old and has immersed himself in the Five Stripes starting lineup.

"Well, talking about young players, Caleb Wiley - most appearances in MLS [for Atlanta] for a homegrown player with 53 appearances," Atlanta head coach Gonzalo Pineda said after the win.

"He set a new record and many more to come, so great for him," Pineda added.

Wiley and Atlanta, now in the 2023 MLS Cup playoffs, prepare to take on Philadelphia Union on October 4 as they hope to push for a top-four finish in the Eastern Conference standings.
