Seagulls boss De Zerbi revealed prior to their draw at Marseille star full-back Pervis Estupinan would be out of action for around a month, with Tariq Lamptey expected to deputise on the left in the Ecuador international's absence.

The Italian named an intriguing starting XI featuring six changes from the draw at Marseille. Bart Verbruggen, Igor, Carlos Baleba, Joao Pedro, Simon Adingra and Evan Ferguson all start.

Brighton could field a back three with Solly March and Adingra out wide, while Pascal Gross has previously played left-back.

Liverpool's appeal against the red card Curtis Jones received in the defeat to Tottenham was unsuccessful and the English midfielder will start a three-game ban on Sunday. Diogo Jota is also suspended for one match, leaving manager Klopp thin for options in attack.

Cody Gakpo scored in north London but had to go off injured. He won't feature at the weekend, joining the likes of Thiago, Caoimhin Kelleher and Stefan Bajcetic on the sidelines.

Trent Alexander-Arnold lasted just over an hour in the USG win and was handed a start at the AMEX, while Harvey Elliott lines up in midfield alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

Brighton vs Liverpool score prediction

The good times at Brighton have been tempered over the past few weeks with defeats to AEK Athens, Chelsea and Aston Villa in various competitions, though Albion still sit sixth in the Premier League.

The quality of Liverpool's performance at Tottenham - where they were down to nine players for most of the second half - has been lost in the fallout involving VAR Darren England and, even with injuries and suspensions affecting their options in attack, the Reds will fancy their chances of taking three points on the coast on Sunday.

Brighton have only lost one of their last seven meetings with Liverpool in an competitions but their recently-exposed fragility in defence makes the visitors favourites for the win.

Prediction: Brighton 1-2 Liverpool
