If the weekend's Euro 2020 showpiece final wasn't enough of a treat for football lovers, South America has stepped up to offer us a mouthwatering, titanic clash of their very own.

Late on Saturday night, football heavyweights Argentina and Brazil go head to head in one of the most hotly-anticipated battles that the sporting gods could throw up in the 2021 Copa America final.

Brazil are the current holders of the famous trophy, and they'll be hoping to defend their title against the Albiceleste, who haven't tasted success since 1993 - losing four finals over the subsequent three decades.

For Lionel Messi, this Copa America gives him the best opportunity of his career to win major silverware with his country, and with the years continuing to tick by, he may never be blessed with a better chance to write his name deeper into the nation's history.

Whatever the outcome, it promises to be an absolute classic. So, here's everything you need to know about the final.

Brazil coach Tite is facing no new injury issues ahead of the big final, although he will once again have to make do without Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus. The forward was sent off in the quarter-finals and earned himself a two-game ban, meaning Lucas Paqueta should partner Neymar in attack.

Elsewhere, it's unlikely that the coach will make many changes to a winning formula, which would see the backline remain the same, handing Ederson the gloves for the final, having been trusted over Alisson Becker.

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni is picking from a full squad ahead of Saturday night's final, as he hopes to end the country's trophy drought. Messi and Lautaro Martinez will both star in attack, having linked up effectively against Colombia, while Nico Gonzalez should complete the forward line.

Penalty shootout hero Emi Martinez retains his place between the sticks, while the midfield and defence is likely to be unchanged.

Unbelievably, Brazil and Argentina have met no less than 111 times. Argentina have come out as victors on 46 occasions, Brazil have celebrated 40 wins, leaving the two teams to share 25 draws.

The two nations most recently met in 2019, when Messi's strike handed Argentina a 1-0 victory in a Superclasico de las Americas match. But Brazil enjoyed a more important win earlier that year, securing a place in the 2019 Copa America final with a 2-0 success over the Albiceleste in the semis.

A finely balanced rivalry.

Brazil and Argentina are packed with talent, and they will both feel that they have a great chance to lift the trophy. Brazil also enjoy the benefit of playing the final at the Maracana, meaning they boast a significant home advantage.

However, time is running out for Messi to win some major silverware for his nation, and he could shock the home favourites with a stellar individual display - crowning the Albiceleste as champions of South America.

Prediction: Brazil 1-2 Argentina
