Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy believes Harry Kane can satisfy his ambition of winning trophies with the club, while he also could have a statue built outside their billion-pound stadium one day.

Kane has just over a year left to run on his contract at Spurs, and 90min understands both parties will reassess their stance on negotiations once a new head coach has been appointed.

Though Tottenham are confident of securing Kane's long-term future, 90min reported on Wednesday that Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United could all test their resolve with offers this summer.

Levy, who is not known to give public interviews, was a recent guest at the debating society of Cambridge University and was asked whether he thinks Kane could actually win silverware at Tottenham.

"He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs," Levy insisted.

"But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur; he’s making history.

"I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium."

Levy went on to defend Spurs' historical success, despite the club winning just a solitary League Cup during his two-decade tenure.

"If you go back in history, Tottenham was a club that has a lot of history because it has won things," he continued.

"In recent times, it's not been where it needs to be. We're on a journey and we need to get better success on the pitch.

"But we have been in the Champions League a number of times and we almost got there, winning the ultimate, which would have been winning the Champions League."

How close have Tottenham been to winning a trophy?

Though Spurs have not won a trophy since 2008, they have put themselves in some great positions to break that duck.
