Bayern Munich continue what looks like an inevitable romp to the Bundesliga title on Saturday evening when they host RB Leipzig in an interesting clash.

Die Roten are still six points clear at the summit of Germany's top flight, having won seven of their previous eight league fixtures while scoring 24 times in the process. Julian Nagelsmann's side bounced back well from a recent 2-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach to dispatch Koln 4-0 before thrashing Hertha Berlin 4-1 last time out.

While Bayern look on course for a tenth successive Meisterschale, RB Leipzig are enduring a very disappointing season. Having put up the feistiest challenge to Bayern's domination last term, the departure of Nagelsmann in the summer has coincided with the loss of their under-doggish bite - although they have picked up some promising form of late.

They're now firmly back in the race for Champions League football courtesy of a run of three consecutive Bundesliga wins - with an aggregate scoreline of 8-1 - which sandwich a DFB-Pokal victory.

Here's 90min's preview of this intriguing encounter.

Leon Goretzka will be absent once again as he continues his recovery from a knee injury that's kept him out since early December, meaning the recently impressive Corentin Tolisso should continue in midfield.

Alphonso Davies is also a certain absentee due to ongoing heart issues, as is youngster Josip Stanisic with a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Bouna Sarr and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting continue their hopeful journeys to Africa Cup of Nations glory with Senegal and Cameroon respectively.

Elsewhere, the visitors will once again be able to call upon Amadou Haidara, who has returned from AFCON duty with Mali. The midfielder will likely be drafted straight back into the side for this mammoth clash.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig head to head record

Considering these two clubs only first met in 2016, it's been a hugely weighted fixture in German football in recent years. Now predominantly a top of the table Bundesliga clash, it has been Die Roten who have dominated the games.

In their 13 encounters so far, Bayern have come out on top eight times with Leipzig only managing one win - back in 2018.

With three of the teams' four draws coming in their previous five clashes, it's clear to see how Leipzig are steadily progressing into a German superpower, but two Bayern wins on the trot - the most recent of which was a comprehensive 4-1 dismantling earlier in the 2021/22 campaign - signal that they're still truly the top dog.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig prediction

Tedesco clearly has his side bouncing back from Jesse Marsch's severely underwhelming and short-lived tenure at the beginning of the season. With players like Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai and Andre Silva in their ranks, they carry a significant threat.

However, no one carries a greater threat than Bayern Munich. With the simply outrageous Robert Lewandowski supported by some of the greatest creative talent on the planet, it's no wonder Bayern's domestic domination looks unbreakable.

This one will certainly be an enticing and interesting affair but Bayern are obviously favourites to taste victory.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 3-1 RB Leipzig
