Bayern Munich 1-1 Werder Bremen: Player Ratings as Die Roten Held to Frustrating Draw

Bayern Munich were held to a frsutrating 1-1 draw by Werder Bremen on Saturday in the Bundesliga as their 10-game winning streak came to an end.

Although Bayern dominated possession, it was Werder who saw the better of the opportunities - particularly in the first half. Ludwig Augustinsson and Josh Sargent brought two superb saves from Manuel Neuer, and Leonardo Bittencourt sent a great opportunity into the side netting.

On the stroke of half time, the visitors took the lead. Sargent spun Javi Martinez and picked out Maximilian Eggestein, who found the bottom corner.

Milot Rashica should have extended Werder's lead early in the second half, but dithered after being slotted clean through, before Douglas Costa struck the underside of the bar with a deflected effort from range.

Bayern equalised on the hour mark, Kingsley Coman heading home Leon Goretzka's curling cross at the back post.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting sent a glorious opportunity over as the clock ticked down, and Neuer palmed away another Sargent effort as both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - 8/10 - Made two stunning reaction saves in quick succession - the first with his feet, the second with his finger tips - to keep out Sargent and then Ludwig Augustinsson in the first half, and a strong palm to deny the former again in the second.

Benjamin Pavard (RB) - 5/10 - Allowed Milot Rashica to run in behind with ease in the early stages of the second half, and the winger should have doubled Werder's lead.

David Alaba (CB) - 6/10 - Moved to left back following Hernandez's injury. Was fortunate to not be punished after completely switching off and allowing Eggestein to drift unmarked to the back post - but he could only find the side netting.

Jerome Boateng (CB) - 5/10 - Bayern looked vulnerable at the back and particularly susceptible to balls over the top. Boateng really struggled to deal with the pace and energy of Sargent all afternoon.

Lucas Hernandez (LB) - 5/10 - Forced off after 18 minutes with injury after landing awkwardly while he was challenged for a header.

2. Midfielders

Javi Martinez (CDM) - 5/10 - Moved to centre back as the Bayern pack were shuffled following Hernandez's injury - and didn't always look comfortable defensively in his new role. Was spun and outpaced with ease by Sargent in the build up to Werder taking the lead.

Jamal Musiala (CM) - 6/10 - The teenager was making his first ever Bundesliga start and looked assured from the off. Combined well with Lewandowski on the edge of the box, and had two goal bound efforts deflect wide.

Thomas Muller (CM) - 5/10 - Game passed him by at times and he was unable to exert his usual influence on proceedings.

3. Forwards

Kingsley Coman (RW) - 7/10 - Flashed an effort from the edge of the area just wide and blazed over from range at either end of the first half. Levelled the scores with a back post header.

Robert Lewandowski (ST) - 6/10 - Produced a delightful flick to tee up Coman for a good chance in the first half, quickly followed by another to send Musiala away. Hardly got a sniff of goal as Werder's backline stood firm.

Douglas Costa (LW) - 5/10 - Produced a couple of teasing crosses in the first half and rattled the underside of the bar with a deflected effort early in the second.
