Barcelona have announced that Tottenham Hotspur will be their opponents in this year's Joan Gamper Trophy.

The match on August 8 will serve as both sides' final pre-season fixture before the start of their respective 2023/24 campaigns.

Barcelona will play four times during a tour of the US before returning to Catalonia, while Spurs will embark on a three-match tour of Australia and Asia.

The Joan Gamper Trophy, an annual fixture usually held at Camp Nou, will take place at Barça's temporary stadium of the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys with their spiritual home undergoing renovations over the next couple of seasons.

Barcelona and Tottenham last faced off during the group stages of the 2018/19 Champions League. Barça ran out 4-2 winners at Wembley before Spurs secured a spot in the knockout stages with a late 1-1 draw at Camp Nou.

Tottenham will be the first English team to compete in the Joan Gamper Trophy on two separate occasions having previously taken part in 1986 when the tournament featured four teams. They were beaten in the semi-finals by PSV Eindhoven.

Barcelona have won the last 10 editions of the tournament, with their last defeat coming in 2012 against Sampdoria.

The last English team to beat Barça in the competition were Manchester City back in 2009, with Martin Petrov grabbing the only goal.
