Barcelona's Champions League clash with Juventus was billed as a heavyweight Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo showdown, but it was anything but as the visitors ran out comprehensive 3-0 winners at Camp Nou.

Ronald Koeman's side were toothless and alarmingly slack at the back as Andrea Pirlo's merry band of men had things all their own way, opening up the scoring after Cristiano Ronaldo converted from the penalty spot just before the quarter of an hour mark.

Soon after it was two as Barça's defence went walkies and Weston McKennie powered home from close range past a helpless Marc-Andre ter Stegen. It was game over when Ronaldo scored a second from the spot after the break, and there was even time for Leonardo Bonucci to have a fourth disallowed by VAR.

Here's the player ratings from another traumatic night for Leo and co.

Barcelona

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (GK) - 6/10 - Nothing really that he could do for any of Juventus' goals. Horrendously exposed for McKennie's close range blast.

Sergino Dest (RB) - 4/10 - His short passing was okay but that's really as good as it got for the American.

Clement Lenglet (CB) - 2/10 - An utterly dreadful display from the Frenchman. Can count himself lucky that he's not been afforded a big fat zero. Booked, gave away a pen and subbed.

Ronald Araujo (CB) - 3/10 - Still learning his craft and needed to be guided by the more experienced Lenglet. Did win every tackle he attempted, but that wasn't many.

Jordi Alba (LB) - 5/10 - At least looked like he could offer something going forward, but Juventus' shape nullified any threat he may offer. Subbed with the game gone.

2. Midfielders

Miralem Pjanic (CM) - 4/10 - As returns against your former club go, this is right up there with one of the worst.

Frenkie de Jong (CM) - 4/10 - Overrun in midfield and unable to assert any kind of authority on proceedings.

Lionel Messi (AM) - 7/10 - Must be wondering what on earth has happened to everybody around him. Was involved in a personal duel with Buffon, but couldn't find a way past the irresistible Italian.

3. Forwards

Francesco Trincao (RW) - 5/10 - Just couldn't get into the game and was unsurprisingly hooked at half-time.

Antoine Griezmann (CF) - 5/10 - Hit the woodwork with a header from a set piece but you expect more from a player who lit the World Cup just two years ago.

Pedri (LM) - 4/10 - Perhaps overawed by the occasion, but it was a night to forget for one of Barça's bright prospects. Subbed.

4. Substitutes

Martin Braithwaite - 5/10 - Came on at half-time for Trincao but really isn't a Barcelona quality player.

Samuel Umtiti - 5/10 - Replaced the dreadful Lenglet and decided to follow his teammates lead by getting booked.

Junior Firpo - 5/10 - With Juve out of sight, Firpo was brought on to save Alba for another day. Didn't too much in the half hour he was given.

Riqui Puig - 5/10

Oscar Mingueza - N/A

Juventus

5. Goalkeepers & Defenders

Gianluigi Buffon (GK) - 8/10 - Seven saves, 42 years old and still the greatest keeper of all time.

Danilo (CB) - 6/10 -
An unfamiliar role that the Brazilian is still getting used to, but was solid enough and looked comfortable in Pirlo's system. Booked.

Matthijs de Ligt (CB) - 8/10 - The future is now; De Ligt is a born leader and was on top throughout the evening.

Leonardo Bonucci - 7/10 - Had the ball in the net, but saw his effort ruled out by VAR. Commanding as ever, flanking the young Dutchman to his right nicely.

6. Wing-Backs & Midfielders

Juan Cuadrado (RWB) - 7/10 - Never stops running, which is exactly what you want from a modern day wing-back. Assisted McKennie's goal with a wonderfully dinked cross. Booked.

Weston McKennie (CM) - 8/10 - Took his goal superbly, even though he was basically afforded the entire penalty area. Rarely gave the ball away and was composed as Juventus strangled the midfield.

Aaron Ramsey (CM) - 7/10 - Combative in the tackle, it was a typically dynamic display from the Welshman. Booked.

Arthur (CM) - 6/10 - Had a better evening than Pjanic, but was the least effective of Juve's midfield trio.

Alex Sandro (LWB) - 6/10 - Has a tendency to give the ball away when he really doesn't need to. Did complete four tackles on a night where he'd have been expecting a far sterner test.

7. Forwards

Alvaro Morata (ST) - 8/10 - There's something about lining up for Juventus that brings out the best in the Spaniard. Helped pull Barça's defence all over the shop with intelligent movement.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) - 9/10 - Okay, so his goals may have come from the penalty spot, but who cares? The best player on the pitch and again the one who came up with the goods at the clutch moments.

8. Substitutes

Rodrigo Bentancur - 6/10 - Had just under 20 minutes but it was game over by that point.

Adrien Rabiot - 6/10 - Likewise, Rabiot got valuable minutes under his belt but was largely unassuming.

Federico Bernardeschi - N/A

Paulo Dybala - N/A

Federico Chiesa - N/A
