Atlanta United have re-signed midfielder Amar Sejdic to a new one-year contract through the 2023 MLS season, the club announced Monday.

The Five Stripes also hold options to extend Sejdic's new deal through the 2024 and 2025 campaigns.

“We are happy to bring Amar back to the club after his contributions the last two seasons," Atlanta United vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club press release. “A proven MLS midfielder, he is a highly intelligent player who reads the game well and has a good understanding of how the coaching staff wants to play.”

Sejdic joined Atlanta in a trade from CF Montreal midway through the 2021 season. Since then, he's made 35 appearances across all competitions, registering one assist and providing reliable cover in Gonzalo Pineda's midfield.

Previously, the former United States youth international played 26 times for Montreal, scoring three goals, while he also spent time on loan with the Ottawa Fury, and with the likes of Real Salt Lake and Vitesse in his youth days.

The re-signing of Sejdic comes after Atlanta United allowed the quartet of Marcelino Moreno, Alan Franco, Dom Dwyer, and Emerson Hyndman to leave as Pineda reshapes his roster for the 2023 campaign.
