Arsenal have unveiled a statue of legendary manager Arsene Wenger outside of the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger is regarded as one of the greatest managers in Arsenal and Premier League history. During his over two decades at the Gunners, the French manager led his team to three league titles and an astonishing seven FA Cups, with his crowning achievement undoubtedly being the 2003/04 campaign in which Arsenal went a full league season unbeaten.

The Frenchman's astonishing tenure in north London has now been commemorated with a bronze statue outside of the North Bank stand of the Emirates Stadium. Sculpted by Jim Guy, the statue depicts Wenger holding aloft the Premier League trophy at the old Highbury Stadium.

Speaking to club media about the statue of his former manager, current Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta opened up on his own experiences as a player under the Frenchman.

“It’s such a great tribute that the club has done something special for Arsene that he fully deserves and merits," Arteta said. "With a statue now at the stadium, Arsene can have that recognition and be here at our club forever.

"I’m so grateful to have played for Arsene at this club in my career. He chose me to be one of his players and selected me to be the captain of the club and that's something I will never forget."

The club have also confirmed that Wenger will be a guest of honour for the Gunners' upcoming Emirates Cup clash with Monaco on August 2. Wenger managed Monaco prior to taking the Arsenal job, guiding the Ligue 1 club to a league title in the 1987/88 season.
