Arsenal have completed the signing of goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo from Swedish outfit Vittsjo GIK.

The Canadian international is the Gunners' third January addition, following the arrivals of Victoria Pelova and Kathrine Kuhl.

D’Angelo will compete for the number one spot alongside Manuela Zinsberger and summer signing Kaylan Marckese. The former's contract expires this summer, but she has an option to extend it until 2024.

“It feels amazing – it’s an honour to be here and I’m so excited to get started with the team,” said D’Angelo. “This is an incredibly exciting time for Arsenal Women and I want to help the team to win trophies and achieve success for our wonderful supporters.”

D’Angelo began her senior career with Toronto Lady Lynx, before playing college football with the South Caroline Gamecocks.

The 29-year-old moved to Western New York Flash in 2015, and joined North Carolina Courage in 2017. She plied her trade outside of North America for the first time in 2019 when she signed for Vittsjo GIK, and would go on to make 70 appearances for the Swedish side.

On the international stage, D’Angelo has been capped 24 times by Canada, and was part of the squad that won Olympic bronze in 2016.

“We’re delighted to have signed Sabrina," added manager Jonas Eidevall. "She is a top goalkeeper with plenty of experience in both Europe and North America and we’re confident that she will be a strong addition to our squad.”

D’Angelo will wear the number 14 shirt at Arsenal.
