Arsenal on course to break WSL attendance record at north London derby

Arsenal are on course to set a new WSL attendance record, with over 40,000 tickets already sold for September's north London derby.
The Gunners face Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on 24 September in one of three WSL fixtures to be played at the club's main ground during the 2022/23 season.
The current WSL attendance record was set back in 2019 and was also a north London derby, as Arsenal beat Spurs 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of 38,200 supporters.
The Independent report that over 40,000 tickets have already been purchased for September's clash - if all those with tickets attend, this would better the cumulative attendances for Arsenal's four fixtures at the Emirates last term.
The Gunners are also set to play Manchester United and Chelsea at the Emirates during the 2022/23 WSL campaign, in addition to all three of their Champions League group stage fixtures, should they progress past Ajax in their round two qualification clash.
Arsenal are one of a number of WSL teams looking to capitalise on the momentum generated by England's Euro 2022 victory, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Brighton all staging fixtures at their club's main stadiums during the upcoming season. Reading already play all of their league matches at the Madejski Stadium.
Arsenal were well represented in England's Euro 2022 winning squad, with Leah Williamson captaining the side and Beth Mead scooping the Golden Boot. Lotte Wubben-Moy also collected a winner's medal.
“Our supporters have really tapped into the excitement and momentum created during the summer and we are delighted with the phenomenal demand for tickets for this match," Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham told the PA news agency. "With a record Women’s Super League crowd in attendance, this north London derby promises to be a memorable occasion."
