Arsenal showed they will not wilt in the Premier League title race as they overcame a hostile atmosphere to win 2-0 at Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

A run of four games without a win was capitalised on by Manchester City to establish a four-point gap, but the Gunners reduced that deficit to one having played a game more as Martin Odegaard's opener and Fabian Schar's own goal secured all three points at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Arteta's side remain in contention for a first league title since 2003/04, but they are firm underdogs even with an impressive win against Eddie Howe's side under their belts.

Here's Arsenal's recent form and a look at their final three games of the campaign.

Arsenal form guide

Arsenal will look back at the start of April with despondency due to a run of three straight draws with Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton. That unforeseen drop in performances and results may well prove to be the difference between the two title hopefuls at the end of the season.

Travelling to Anfield is typically viewed as a tough day out so claiming a point on Merseyside wasn't the end of the world, though Arsenal's fast start would suggest otherwise.

A week later, the same old rampant Arsenal stunned West Ham early on but then found themselves desperately clinging on for a point as they neared the final whistle. A potential game-of-the-season contender with Southampton then took place as Arsenal found themselves on the receiving end of a quick start.

Odegaard and Bukayo Saka were on hand to produce a last-minute comeback to muster up a point, one Mikel Arteta ultimately would have been disheartened by.

Manchester City then delivered a trademark performance when welcoming Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium and looked to have put the title race out of sight, but the Gunners returned to winning ways in the following fixture, putting Frank Lampard's substandard Chelsea to the sword.

Arsenal made it two wins on the bounce by downing Newcastle on Sunday. Odegaard's strike had them 1-0 up early on and Schar's own goal in the second half secured the points.

Arsenal vs Brighton - Premier League

An enthralling six-goal contest on New Year's Day saw Arteta's men run riot on the south coast as Arsenal entered 2023 seven points clear of Man City at the top of the table.

That outcome aside, Brighton's recent head-to-head record with the Gunners is strong, enjoying two away victories and a goalless draw back in October 2021.

If their last meeting is anything to go by, we could be in for a treat.

Forest may end their 2022/23 season with a title - albeit the 'Worst Away Form' accolade - but thankfully for Steve Cooper Arsenal are doing the travelling this time around.

The Gunners registered an emphatic 5-0 win the last time the two sides met. A recent victory over Brighton boosted Forest's survival hopes, though they followed it up with a 2-1 defeat to Brentford on the road.

Arsenal vs Wolves - Premier League

There's a small possibility that City and Arsenal's season-long fight for top spot will trickle into the last round of fixtures, when the Gunners welcome mid-table dwellers Wolves.

Julen Lopetegui's outfit will surely be safe by then, currently residing ten points above the drop zone. It would take some doing to change their last-day fixture from a serene trip to London into a relegation fight.

Over the last ten years or so years, Wolves have left Arsenal's stomping ground with a win just once. Bearing in mind the improvements we have seen from the Gunners, this could be a long day for the travelling Wolves supporters.
