Oh dear.

Arsenal's run of six games without defeat came to a crushing end on Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss at Molineux.

While a bad result away at Wolves is never the most embarrassing of outcomes, the manner in which it came was... quite something.

After Nicolas Pepe's magical individual effort put the Gunners in the driving seat, all looked relatively rosy mere seconds before the half-time whistle.

Then David Luiz brought down Willian Jose through on goal and was sent off, while Ruben Neves converted the subsequent penalty.

A Joao Moutinho stunner shortly into the second half against Arsenal's ten men turned the game on its head, before things got a boatload worse as Bernd Leno was sent off for the most bizarre of outside-the-box handballs you are ever likely to see.

The result, which leaves Arsenal in 10th, showcased an odd pattern of ill-discipline under Mikel Arteta.

As highlighted by Opta, the Gunners have now received nine red cards in the Premier League since Boxing Day 2019 - Arteta's first game in charge.

That is six(!!) more than any other team in that time period, which is - I'm sure you'll agree - pretty astonishing.

Arsenal, unsurprisingly, lead the red charts in the Premier League in 2020/21 with five, two more than Brighton - though the Gunners are only eighth when it comes to yellows overall (32).

Opta also pointed out that since making his Arsenal debut back in August 2019, David Luiz has received more red cards (3) and conceded more penalties (6) than any other player.

Luiz earned a match-low of 3/10 in 90min's player ratings on the night.

Mustafi may be gone but Arsenal error prone defensive lapses are not.

The Gunners stay in the midlands as they travel to Aston Villa next (Saturday), before returning home to the Emirates to take on Leeds next week.
