Didier Lamkel Ze may not be a household name in our sport, but after the stunt he pulled in this January transfer window, he will go down in the annuls of hilarious football transfer stories.

The January transfer window can be a distracting month for players, as they are constantly linked with potentially exciting and lucrative moves to bigger clubs, until it all comes to a stop in February.

It's not unheard of for footballers to try and push for a deal to materialise, sometimes by downing tools, or in the case of Peter Odemwingie, driving to your prospective buyers' car park and waiting for them to sign you, all the while chatting to Sky Sports News.

Royal Antwerp striker Lamkel Ze has taken much different, but equally drastic measures to force a transfer to Panathinaikos. The Cameroonian forward rocked up to training sporting the jersey of arch-rivals Anderlecht with Yannick Bolasie's name on the back, in a bid to prove how uncommitted to the Antwerp cause he truly was.

Bravo, pal.

What he didn't bargain for was the security guards on the door refusing him entry to the premises, locking him out and making him somehow look even sillier than before. I wonder if, as he desperately wrestled a door to get into work, he stopped and thought, 'You know what? Maybe this decision might not have been the best course of action to take.'

Of course, reality eventually set in for the forward, and once the dust had settled and his arms had tired from pushing an immovable door, he realised it was time to take off the shirt and face the music.

He offered his humblest apologies to the fans, and stated that he is now available for the new coach, if he is needed. I think the boss might have a question mark over your attitude actually, Didier.

"I want to apologise to the club and to the Antwerp supporters, because they are magnificent and wonderful supporters, they have always supported me. If I reacted like this it is because my head was somewhere else. it was not easy for me.

"I really, really want to apologise for this gesture. I do not forget neither my team-mates in the locker room or the technical staff who have supported me since my arrival here.

"I am available for the club if the new coach needs me. I hope to find the supporters very soon on the pitch."

For those of you adept in foreign languages, or if you purely want to see the man behind the madness, his grovelling apology is above, courtesy of the Royal Antwerp Twitter page.

Who else was hoping he'd unzip his jacket to show off a Panathinaikos shirt underneath? You've gotta double down in these cases, Didier, ya twerp.
