Antonio Conte reaffirmed his happiness at being Tottenham head coach following their 0-0 draw with Everton on Sunday.

Spurs were left frustrated by the Toffees going forward, but put in a resolute defensive display to secure a point.

And Conte revealed he was satisfied not just with the team's performance, but the future they can have together.

"I'm delighted I'm in a club that's the right club. I think we can do a good job together," he told beIN Sport post-game.

"Today, I must be delighted [with the performance]. It's not easy when you come to Goodison Park. For the team that has to play against Everton, it is never a good place. There is a fantastic atmosphere.

"I'm happy that we started here in this way because I have seen some tactical situations that we've tried in these three days.

"I appreciated the spirit of the team. At the moment, we need to suffer and the team showed me that they want to suffer. They want to learn more, not only on tactical aspects but also in spirit.

"We must be strong in every moment. Then you can lose or win, but you must stay on the pitch with your head and heart, with your passion.

"It's only our start. Now we have to work. I'm not afraid of these words, work is the only medicine for us."

Spurs failed to register a shot on target for a second successive game as their goal-scoring woes continued, but Conte insisted he was still pleased with the progress being shown.

"I think we created chances to score, but we made many mistakes in the final pass, to make the best decision. I think we can improve but don't forget this team is the same team that played Thursday. To play again after 48 hours is not simple.

"I take this point and my players must be happy because we have a new start."

Tottenham's intensity dropped around the hour mark and they had to deal with an onslaught of Everton attacks, as fitness issues that have been evident since Jose Mourinho's tenure shone through.

When asked if improving the fitness of team was one of his priorities, Conte replied: "Yeah, for sure.

"It depends on the football you want to play. If you want to play intense football, it means that you have to bring intensity for the whole game.

"We need to exploit every second of our life in Tottenham - to try to improve the players in a physical and tactical aspect...but only because my football, the demand is very high.
