Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has revealed that Mohamed Salah remained professional this summer amid speculation of a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Reds received a cash boost of around £52m by selling veteran midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad respectively ahead of the new season, but held firm when the latter came calling for their star forward.

90min reported earlier this month that Saudi champions Al Ittihad were prepared to pay a world-record fee in order to land Salah, while they also believed the Egyptian was open to such a move.

Liverpool, however, were not interested in parting ways with the 31-year-old and he stayed at Anfield beyond the Saudi Pro League's transfer deadline on September 7.

Salah has started the 2023/24 season in fine form for Liverpool, registering at least one goal contribution in each of their five Premier League games thus far.

His most recent helpings came in Saturday's 3-1 win at Wolves, laying on assists for Cody Gakpo and Robertson.

Speaking to TNT Sports post-match at Molineux, Robertson hailed Salah for his conduct in recent weeks.

"I don't get many goals so it's always nice to score, we knew they were quick on counter-attacks and corners so we had to be alert, and I know Mo can pick a pass so I got in there and luckily slotted it in. I'm delighted for the goal, crucial for us to get our noses in front," Robertson said.

"During the speculation, I thought he was superb on the pitch and there was a lot of talk outside it. Now that's all done and dusted, I thought he put in a good second-half performance like we all did, first-half we all were not at it.

"He probably only gets credit when he gets goals which is slightly unfair, but he's got us two assists today, he's got us back in the game, created chances and second half he was really good."
