As the final World Cup qualifiers near, Americans abroad have been working diligently to reach their maximum potential. Christian Pulisic demonstrated once again why he stands as the USMNT's star figure, while Ethan Horvath continues to stake his claim for a national team call up.

This is the latest on American figures abroad...

1. Christian Pulisic scores for Chelsea

The American midfielder registered a goal and an assist as Thomas Tuchel’s side beat Burnley 4-0.

Minutes after Reece James broke the deadlock, Pulisic played distributor for the Blues second goal. The 23-year-old found his way into the box from the right wing before sending a cross to the back post to Kai Havertz, who headed the ball into the net.

The American then bagged a goal of his own when a failed clearance by Burnley defender James Tarkowski allowed him to strike the loose ball into the goal.

2. Weston McKennie is officially out for the season

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has since confirmed the player will be out for the rest of the season.

“The season is over for Weston because of his injury. He’ll be back next season,” Allegri said after Juventus 1-0 win over Spezia on Sunday.

The team initially projected an 8-12 week recovery period, which estimated the player would be watching from the sidelines as Juventus concluded their Serie A campaign on May 21.

McKennie will also miss the upcoming USMNT qualifiers.

3. Ethan Horvath features for Nottingham Forest

Ethan Horvath featured on Friday as Nottingham Forest managed a 1-1 road draw with Sheffield United. The American made five saves in his third consecutive start.

Horvath worked diligently to keep Nottingham Forest in the game, denying Billy Sharp from grabbing his second goal of the match in the 69th minute before also repelling Daniel Jebbison’s stoppage-time effort.

Overall, the 26-year-old Horvath has made 10 saves during his three starts in Brice Samba’s absence, conceding only one goal and registering two clean sheets.

The goalkeeper could soon feature for the USMNT as they face a goalkeeping crisis with both Matt Turner and Zack Steffen out injured.
