7 young players who will rise to power next season

Every season brings us plenty of new breakout stars, and 2021/22 will be no different.

Take a look across Europe and you'll find countless young wonderkids flirting with superstardom, and the stars are aligning for some to hit new heights and take over across the coming season.

Let's take a closer look at some.

Bukayo Saka

Besides Raheem Sterling, there's a case to suggest that Bukayo Saka was England's best forward at Euro 2020.

The Arsenal starlet was one of his club's most important players last season already, but with the momentum of this summer in his sails, expect Saka to go on and assert himself as the Gunners' undisputed star man this year.

The entire country is behind Saka, who relishes that sort of pressure. It's a challenge up to which he will do everything to live.

Mason Greenwood

The potential has been there to see for years now, but it's time for Mason Greenwood to take over.

Jadon Sancho's arrival at Manchester United means Greenwood will see more minutes at striker, where he made his name in the academy with 34 goals in as many games for United's Under-18 side. He was always billed as a future superstar centre forward, and now he'll have the chance to prove why.

An ice-cold finisher, Greenwood has been waiting for this opportunity for years. He knows he can score a boatload of goals, and fans should expect that from him this season.

Alexander Isak

Since his days in Sweden with AIK, it's been clear that Alexander Isak is going to become a superstar, and the hype is only growing bigger.

17 goals in 34 appearances in La Liga last season was an outstanding return for the towering Swede, but it was the least he deserved. He dominated defences all across Spain and brought that excitement to the Euros, where he nearly gave us the highlight of the tournament with a mazy solo effort against Slovakia.

After years of deserving the spotlight, Isak has finally got it, and he looks more than ready to make it his own.

Ezri Konsa

There are a lot of English centre-backs competing with Harry Maguire and John Stones for a spot in the national team, but Aston Villa's Ezri Konza has a stronger case than most.

Under the tutelage of John Terry, Konsa has quietly roared his way to elite status. He's so comfortable in everything he does and has neutralised some of the game's best strikers, doing so in such a simple way that highlight packages often don't pick it up. It's just so simple.

An England call-up is definitely coming for Konsa in the very near future, but that could be just the first step on his quest for superstardom.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

One of Thomas Tuchel's first moves at Chelsea was to highlight the astronomical potential of young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The boss put a lot of faith in Hudson-Odoi and repeatedly made it clear that the youngster has more than enough to excel at the top level. The pair shared a fantastic embrace after Hudson-Odoi shone in a 2-1 win over Manchester City last season which showed just how infatuated Tuchel is with the young star.

A move further forward will benefit Hudson-Odoi and allow him to focus on his unreal dribbling abilities without the anchor of defensive responsibilities holding him back. Once he gets that freedom, it could be over for the rest of the league.

Jamal Musiala

Last season, Jamal Musiala was a regular part of arguably the best club side on the planet, Bayern Munich. He got the taste for success, and now it's time for the young German to take the next step.

With Julian Nagelsmann, a manager who values youth, now at the helm at the Allianz Arena, Musiala will have more opportunities than ever before. He managed six goals in seven starts last year, so imagine what he could do with more.

More minutes with Bayern will give Musiala a bigger stage upon which to impress ahead of the 2022 World Cup, where the young forward could take his career to a whole new level.

Boubakary Soumare

Ending Paris Saint-Germain's reign of dominance in Ligue 1 was never going to be easy, but Boubakary Soumare made it look like light work.

His reward for that, apart from the league title, was a £17m move to Leicester City to form part of the most exciting midfield in the Premier League alongside Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi. English fans know all about those two, and Soumare is about to hit the same level.

£17m normally doesn't get you a lot these days, but in Soumare, Leicester have snapped up one of France's best young midfielders in what could be the bargain of the summer.
