Leaked text messages involving Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes appear to show the Portugal international criticising former teammates during his time at previous club Sporting CP.

The 25-year-old captained Sporting before departing for United in January, where his impressive performances have helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side go unbeaten since his arrival.

But his individual performances alone seemingly weren't enough to keep him happy at Sporting, as the leaked messages reveal Fernandes' frustration with old teammates who didn't share the same desire to perform well.

The messages, as quoted by Portuguese outlet Record via the Daily Mail read: "Bro, I don't say anything! I honestly, if you want me to tell you, I'd rather not comment on anything.

"I think very badly of some of the attitudes of some players. Actually not a certain attitude, it's an attitude that does not exist.

"There are players who have no attitude here, bro. They don't want to be here, they don't want to play."

Fernandes further explained his anger, adding: "They don't want to be here then f*** off, let them say they don't want to play. They spend a year here getting money, and then they f*** off, bro. S*** attitude bro, for f**** sake."

Since arriving in Manchester however, Fernandes' hunger and match-winning ability have gone down a treat at Old Trafford, scoring twice and providing three assists in the Premier League.

United head coach Solskjaer has praised Fernandes' leadership qualities on a number of occasions since his arrival, and Bruno's vocal personality was further highlighted in February when he told Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to shush mid-game.

His personality and his passion for the game have seen him become a fan-favourite at United, his performances helping him pick up February's Player of the Month awards from both Manchester United and the Premier League.
