Wolves have confirmed the signing of Olympiacos winger Daniel Podence for a fee believed to be in the region of £17m.

Talks between the two clubs had stalled as negotiations carried over into a second week, with the Greek side holding out for the aforementioned fee. Podence's agent is none other than Jorge Mendes, who has made a major impact at Molineux over the last few years.

However, Podence flew to England for a medical on Wednesday following the breakthrough in talks that has allowed the transfer to go through, with Wolves revealing the former Portugal Under-21 international has signed a deal running until 2024.

The Premier League club said in a statement: "Wolves have secured the signing of Portuguese winger Daniel Podence from Olympiacos, subject to international clearance.

"The 24-year-old can play on either flank and provides a fresh attacking option to Nuno Espirito Santo, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal."

Podence is the Wanderers' second January arrival following the signing of Leonardo Campana from Ecuadorian side Barcelona SC and becomes the latest to join the squad's Portuguese ranks, alongside Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Vinagre, Rui Patricio and Pedro Neto.

The 24-year-old impressed during the group stages of the Champions League earlier this season, scoring in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham back in September.

He will provide Nuno Espirito Santo with added depth in attack. Diogo Jota has been sidelined for much of the campaign, leading to more opportunities for Pedro Neto and Adama Traore, the latter of whom has attracted praise following a string of match-winning performances.
