FIFA have announced a 14-person shortlist for the Best Women's Player award 2022.

The shortlist is an all-star cast from start to finish, including players who have shone at club level, international level, or both, and is based on performances between 7 August 2021 and 31 July 2022.

FIFA have also revealed the list of nominations for Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper.

Alexia Putellas, Ada Hegerberg and Beth Mead are the headline names on the 14-player shortlist of the 2022 Best FIFA Women's Player award.

Putellas has already won the 2022 Ballon d'Or Feminin, recognising her achievements in another outstanding season with Barcelona. Cruelly, injury cost her a place at Euro 2022.

Hegerberg returned to prominence in 2022 by coming back from long-term injury and firing Lyon back to Champions League glory, while Beth Mead collected the golden boot and player of the tournament accolades as England won Euro 2022.

Mead is one of three England internationals nominated for the award, alongside Keira Walsh and Leah Williamson.

Wolfsburg's Alexandra Popp and Lena Oberdorf have been recognised for the role they played in firing Germany to the Euro 2022 final by making the shortlist, and Barcelona's Aitana Bonmati and Lyon's Wendie Renard also feature.

Chelsea duo Sam Kerr and Jessie Fleming have received nominations, alongside Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema. Brazil's Debinha and the USWNT's Alex Morgan will be flying the flag for the NWSL.

Voting for the award is split into four groups - media representatives, national team coaches, national team captains and fan votes. Each group will have 25% of the overall vote.
