The new 2020/21 Borussia Dortmund home kit has been leaked, featuring the logo of new Bundesliga shirt sponsor 1&1 for the first time.

The German web hosting company is replacing Evonik in league matches next season, with the chemicals firm to remain on jerseys in DFB-Pokal and Champions League games.

Images from Footy Headlines reveal the new shirt, made by Puma, features a bold black graphic on the yellow base, almost resembling bolts of lightning. The pattern is said to draw inspiration from the nearby Westfalenhalle U-bahn station, which has striking and unmistakable architecture.

The shirt is matched with black shorts and yellow socks.

Footy Headlines estimates that the official launch could be as soon as 27 June.

If that is to be the case, Dortmund might be wearing the new strip for the final game of the Bundesliga season at home against Hoffeinheim that day.

The matching pre-match shirt follows a similar design but is black and grey.

Dortmund’s 2020/21 away shirt is expected to be predominantly black but will feature a diagonal yellow sash. It will also have a unique pattern incorporated into the design below that sash inspired by graffiti and street art. Black shorts and black socks finish it off.

Dortmund failed to break Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga dominance this season but have recorded a second consecutive runner-up finish after slipping further away in previous years.

The 2020/21 campaign will be a fresh start as they look to at last topple Bayern.

It could be a summer of change at Westfalenstadion, especially if Jadon Sancho is to potentially leave the club. If he does, it should at least give Dortmund a sizeable transfer budget with which to build a team capable of rising to the challenge.
