Manchester United are aiming to reach their third domestic cup final under Erik ten Hag's watch when they take on Championship side Coventry in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.

Victory in last season's Carabao Cup final over Newcastle supposedly depicted a resurgent Red Devils, but the waters on the red side of Manchester have been murky since their FA Cup final defeat to City.

2023/24 has been a campaign of tumult for Ten Hag, and there are serious questions surrounding his future. Perhaps even success in this competition won't be enough for the Dutchman to keep his job, with Ten Hag potentially enduring the same fate as Louis van Gaal in 2016.

United's vulnerabilities render them a prime candidate for an upset, and a defeat on Sunday would surely put the final nail in the Ten Hag tenure coffin. Here's the team the Man Utd boss could pick for their FA Cup semi-final.

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Coventry (4-2-3-1)

GK: Andre Onana - Onana has conceded a ton of goals in his debut season, but the general consensus is that the summer arrival has recovered pretty well from a tough start to life in Manchester.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - Having missed a big chunk of the season through injury, Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a run in the side as a result of other defensive absences.

CB: Casemiro - With Willy Kambwala expected to miss out with injury, Casemiro has been training as a makeshift centre-back.

CB: Harry Maguire - Maguire missed training earlier in the week having been bothered by a thigh complaint at Bournemouth last weekend. However, the England international is expected to be available. Ten Hag desperately needs him.

LB: Diogo Dalot - Dalot has been forced to fill in at left-back with Luke Shaw and the AWOL Tyrell Malacia both long-term absentees.

CM: Scott McTominay - The reshuffling of Casemiro means McTominay is likely to start in midfield having overcome a minor injury.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo - The mightily gifted Mainoo has plenty to learn defensively, but his talent in possession is utterly remarkable. The teenager doesn't appear fazed by the big occasion.

RM: Alejandro Garnacho - Another bright spark for United this season, Garnacho has enjoyed a productive campaign and he's a shoo-in for Sunday's semi-final.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - Bruno has been back among the goals in recent outings, and he'll be hoping to lead his side into the final with a captain's performance under the Wembley arch.

LM: Marcus Rashford - Rashford scored in extra-time during United's dramatic 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool, but the winger hasn't recorded a goal contribution since. It's certainly been an up-and-down campaign for the Englishman, who's fighting for his place at Euro 2024.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - Hojlund's injury absence crushed his purple patch. The Dane hasn't found the back of the net in his last five games, so a return to form would be timely on Sunday.
