Barcelona are set to offer a new long-term contract to 21-year-old midfielder Pedri despite his recent injury woes.

The midfielder has struggled for game time on the pitch this season, having been sidelined with a hamstring injury on three separate occasions already in 2023/24, missing 19 games in all competitions.

Despite these injury woes, Mundo Deportivo have reported that Barca are keen to tie the midfielder down with a new long-term contract. The report states that La Blaugrana are set to approach the player's agent regarding the new deal soon.

Pedri's current contract runs until 2026, but Barcelona are keen to keep him beyond the expiration of said deal.

Despite his regular fitness setbacks, Barcelona see him as a key player for the club's long-term future, and hope to see him sign a contract extension.

It is unclear whether Pedri will be fit to face Paris Saint-Germain in their upcoming Champions League quarter-final fixture on Wednesday, yet Barcelona have said they will be unwilling to take risks when it comes to the player's health.

Barcelona are set for a tricky transfer window in the summer, with manager Xavi's future still undecided. If Xavi is to stay, reports state he will want funds to build a strong team.

Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong are other players whose contracts are set to expire in 2026. Reports reveal that Barcelona are also working on new deals at the club.

Barca return to action in the league on Saturday when they face 18th place Cadiz at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.
