Chelsea fans will soon discover Thiago Silva's fate at Stamford Bridge, as the Brazilian has privately made his decision regarding whether he'll stay or leave the club this summer.

Silva joined Chelsea from PSG on a free transfer in 2020 and was an integral member of the side that won the Champions League in 2021. He also won the Club World Cup with Chelsea the following year.

Regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation, the Brazilian is celebrated for his discipline and leadership qualities.

Following the narrow loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, Silva was visibly emotional, possibly realising it could have been his final opportunity to secure silverware with Chelsea, given his contract's expiration in June.

Before the match, Silva's wife shared pictures of herself and her family preparing to watch from the Wembley stands on her Instagram story. In one post, holding a Chelsea scarf with Silva's name, she wrote: "It's the last dance at Wembley."

When questioned about a departure from west London, Silva replied (via The Standard): "You'll find out in the next few days. I'd rather not comment now, especially after a loss.

“I'm sad about the result, but sooner or later, the news will come out. I do have a decision made in my mind, but it's not the moment to share it.

"My four years here were very good. Not that I didn't believe in myself, but with my age and the intensity of this league...it's rare to see players in a high level at 39.

“I don't like to talk about myself, but you can see this. Today, I was ready to play the extra time. I can see I have some years in me to keep enjoying football.”
