Zlatan Ibrahimovic has refused to rule out AC Milan winning Serie A this season after the striker scored a brace to see his side beat bitter rivals Inter 2-1 on Saturday.

The first Derby della Madonnina of the season saw the Rossoneri claim the away spoils, in a match where the 39-year-old striker also missed a penalty.

Victory over Antonio Conte's side extends Milan's unbeaten run to 20 matches in all competitions, while they've also won their opening four Serie A games of the season for the first time since the 1995/96 campaign.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the win, Zlatan insisted his side can only get better: "We are at the beginning. Since I arrived, the team has been doing great things. After the lockdown, above all, we got off to a good start. The team is growing a lot.

"We are more collective, the mentality is different, young people take more responsibility, they make more sacrifices. You don't see how they train every day, they do it great."

On the topic of winning the season, Zlatan acknowledged that his side are in fine form as they sit top of the league, with every coming match an opportunity to get them closer to Europe. The title, however, has now become a distinct possibility.

“We are thinking one game at a time, every game is like a final," he added. "When I arrived, the goal was to get to Europe. Now we play them all as a final. The goal is to reach Europe again, to do well in Europe. My goal is different, but I keep that to myself.

“Yes, there is a chance to win the Scudetto. One who believes in it can do everything. We are working towards this, then let's see what will happen. It is still a long way to go."
