Zlatan Ibrahimovic Could Miss Up to Four Weeks With Injury

Milan look to have been dealt a huge blow following reports that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could miss up to four weeks of action with a hamstring problem.

The Swedish striker has had a transformative effect on the Rossoneri following his return last December, with his ten goals last term earning Stefano Pioli's side a place in the Europa League.

His rich vein of form has continued into 2020/21, as he's already matched his goal tally for the previous campaign in just six appearances.

Ibrahimovic's ten strikes see him top the scoring charts ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has eight, and Romelu Lukaku, who has seven. The 39-year-old has proven pivotal in Milan's superb start to the season, which sees them lead Serie A after eight games.

The Swede was Milan's match-winner in Sunday's 3-1 victory away at Napoli - bagging a brace - but was forced off in the closing stages with a hamstring injury.

While nothing has been confirmed by the Rossoneri, Sky Italia's Manuele Baiocchini reports that the club performed tests on Monday afternoon to find out the full extent of the injury.

Ibrahimovic could miss up to four weeks, potentially missing the remaining nine games before the Christmas break.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Italian Football TV) understand that Ibrahimovic could return in time to face Parma in Serie A on 13 December.

Should this be accurate, Milan will be without their hitman for the upcoming bouts against Fiorentina and Sampdoria in the league, as well as Lille, Celtic and Sparta Prague in the Europa League - although Ibrahimovic has often been rested for European encounters thus far.

Nevertheless, with their overwhelming protagonist poised for a period on the sidelines, it's set to be a defining period in what has the makings of a very exciting season for Milan.
