France vs Germany is a fixture that never disappoints in football, even if the match is officially a friendly.

Perhaps Les Bleus were a little too accommodating to their guests when they met at Lyon's Groupama Stadium on Saturday night.

Germany, clouded by a staggeringly poor record since Euro 2020 and with high expectations to turn it around ahead of this summer's championships on home soil, could not really afford to succumb to any major setbacks against their neighbours.

But Julian Nagelsmann's men made the perfect start. It could hardly have gone any better - Florian Wirtz broke the deadlock with only seven seconds on the clock.

The Bayer Leverkusen playmaker let fly from around 25 yards and his effort completely caught Bricw Samba by surprise.

Who came up with the assist? The returning Toni Kroos, of course.

Spare a thought for legendary coach Didier Deschamps, whose 150th match in charge of France started in crazy fashion despite his defensive ways.

What's even more concerning for France is they nearly went two down moments later, with Kai Havertz fluffing his lines when bearing down on goal.

He did, to his credit, open up the space for Wirtz to create the first goal. So fair enough. Please don't come after us, Arsenal fans.

Anyone up for France vs Germany again at the Euros this summer? Anyone?
