WSL team of the week - gameweek 11

Only three WSL games went ahead over the weekend as a result of Covid-19 related postponements, but those that did were action packed and full of top performances.

Featuring players from Birmingham, Manchester City, Reading and Leicester, here's a look at 90min's latest WSL team of the week to get 2022 off the mark...

ICYMI: WSL results roundup - gameweek 11

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Demi Lambourne (GK) - Leicester: The Foxes stopper gave her side a chance against Reading with a first half penalty stop to keep the score-line down, as well as other saves. Unfortunate to end up on the losing side.

Jade Pennock (RB) - Birmingham: Performed well as a wing-back in the face of challenging opposition players down Arsenal's left flank.

Louise Quinn (CB) - Birmingham: Led the Blues back-line well against her former club to help record a clean sheet that provided the foundations for an unexpected and famous victory.

Gemma Lawley (CB) - Birmingham: Her goal-line clearance against Arsenal denied the Gunners what could have been a huge turning point.

Lily Woodham (LB) - Reading: Did a fine job of keeping Leicester at bay on her side of the pitch, winning her individual battles.

2. Midfielders

Sanne Troelsgaard (CM) - Reading: The veteran Denmark international has only just arrived in England and can be pleased with her WSL debut, ensuring Leicester could never gain a foothold.

Veatriki Sarri (CM) - Birmingham: Provided her team with crucial energy in midfield and was rewarded with the killer second goal against Arsenal - a move that she both started and finished.

Georgia Stanway (CM) - Man City: Thriving back in a more familiar role and was a constant thorn in the side of Brighton. Scored a goal but also fired off seven shots in total.

3. Forwards

Hayley Raso (RW) - Man City: The Australian put in a shift down City's right flank, was extremely accurate with her passing and was rewarded with a goal as her team ran up the score against Brighton.

Natasha Dowie (ST) - Reading: A missed penalty that was well saved and she won herself should not detract from a match-winning performance. Her long-range goal will be a contender for goal of the season.

Lauren Hemp (LW) - Man City: The centre of everything that was good about her team. Scored a fine goal at a key moment in the game and brought three other saves out of Brighton goalkeeper Megan Walsh.
