The curtain came down on the 2021/22 WSL season in dramatic fashion on Sunday, with the destination of the title decided and the final Champions League spot secured.

The title changed hands on no fewer than five occasions over the course of the 90 minutes, as Arsenal and Chelsea tussled for top spot on either side of London.

Elsewhere, Manchester City continued their winning streak to seal Champions League football, and Tottenham recorded an all-time high WSL finish.

Chelsea 4-2 Manchester United

Sam Kerr netted two stunning goals as Chelsea fought back from 2-1 down at half time to beat Manchester United 4-2 and be crowned WSL champions for a third season on the trot.

A Martha Thomas header and a back post finish from Ella Toone either side of Erin Cuthbert's strike had given United a 2-1 lead at the break, before Emma Hayes made a pair of half time substitutions and Kerr levelled the scores with a fabulous volley two minutes into the second period.

Guro Reiten applied the finishing touches to a flowing team move to give Chelsea the lead before Kerr doubled her tally and her side's advantage with an audacious volley on the swivel.

West Ham 0-2 Arsenal

Arsenal upheld their half of the bargain by beating West Ham 2-0, but it wasn't enough as Chelsea's victory saw the Gunners miss out on the title by a single point.

After a nervy first half finished goalless, substitute Stina Blackstenius netted with her first touch of the afternoon, slotting past Mackenzie Arnold on the hour following Vivianne Miedema's through ball.

Steph Catley made it two six minutes later, rifling the ball into the net from inside the box for her first ever WSL goal.

Reading 0-4 Manchester City

Manchester City continued their winning streak with a thumping 4-0 victory over Reading to book their place in next season's Champions League.

Lauren Hemp continued her fine scoring form to break the deadlock after 33 minutes with a well-taken half volley, after being intelligently picked out by Keira Walsh.

Second half goals from Khadija Shaw and Ellen White and an Alex Greenwood penalty saw City to victory as they signed off the season in style.

Tottenham 1-0 Leicester

Tottenham rounded off their thoroughly impressive season with a 1-0 win over Leicester at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The victory sees Spurs finish fifth - their highest ever placing in the WSL - in Rehanne Skinner's first full season in charge.

Fittingly, it was Ashleigh Neville - Spurs' standout performer this term - who netted the decisive goal, heading home Jess Naz's cross four minutes into the second half.

Aston Villa 0-1 Birmingham

Relegated Birmingham's final game in the WSL saw them get one over second city rivals Aston Villa and former boss Carla Ward with a 1-0 win at Villa Park.

Veatriki Sarri - one of Birmingham's standout performers this term - saw her cross loop in over Hannah Hampton after 10 minutes, and this proved decisive as her side took home all three points.

The victory continues Birmingham's resurgence during the latter weeks of the season, the Blues taking seven points from their final five games - having picked up just four from their previous 17.

Brighton 1-1 Everton

Brighton confirmed their seventh place finish in the WSL with a 1-1 draw with Everton.

The Toffees had led 1-0 at the break via a well-taken team goal, finished off by Nathalie Bjorn.

Substitute Aileen Whelan scored in her final appearance for Brighton seven minutes after entering the fray to level the scores, lapping up the rebound after Inessa Kaagman cracked the bar to ensure the spoils were shared.
