The WSL has served up some all-time classic encounters since the league's formation in 2011, with wonder goals, last gasp winners and controversy all part of the parcel.

From drama at the death to high scoring encounters and title deciders, here are the WSL's all-time greatest games.

Bristol City twice came from two goals down to rescue a draw against Reading in a six-goal thriller during the 2019/20 season.

Having trailed 2-0 and 3-1, Ebony Salmon struck with seven minutes remaining to earn a point for the Vixens and complete a remarkable comeback.

4. Chelsea 2-3 Birmingham, January 2019

Birmingham came from behind and scored a stoppage time winner to record a surprise victory over Chelsea in January 2019.

Emma Hayes' side had led through Erin Cuthbert, before Emma Follis and Lucy Quinn netted to put Birmingham on course for all three points.

Cuthbert looked to have rescued a point for Chelsea, only for Ellen White to pop up in the 93rd minute and loop the ball over Carly Telford to seal victory for Birmingham.

3. Birmingham 1-2 Liverpool, September 2014

Liverpool's victory over Birmingham in September 2014 had huge ramifications for the WSL title race - with the best of the action unfolding in the final five minutes.

Liverpool had to win to keep their title hopes alive, with Birmingham's equaliser five minutes from time appearing to all but end their hopes of defending their crown.

But straight from kick off, Fara Williams produced one of the greatest goals in WSL history, netting from the halfway line to win the game for Liverpool. As title rivals slipped up around them, the Reds would go on to be crowned league champions a matter of weeks later, with Williams' goal pivotal.

Liverpool claimed a vital three points in their bid to be crowned WSL champions for the very first time, as they came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Chelsea.

The scoreline and momentum swung this way and that in a pulsating 90 minutes; Liverpool had come back from 2-0 to level the scores at 2-2, before Chelsea again re-took the lead through a Becky Easton own goal.

Liverpool then scored twice in the final seven minutes via Natasha Dowie and Nicole Rolser to claim a vital three points in the WSL title race.

Manchester City and Chelsea shared six goals in an all-time classic encounter at the Academy Stadium.

The two sides traded leads in a game that had everything; wonder goals (a sensational long range effort from Beth England), drama (Ann-Katrin Berger saving Georgia Stanway's spot kick) and an absolutely breathless 16 minute spell where four goals were scored.

The frantic, cup final feel was somehow fitting; the match transpired to be the last league game before Covid-19 curtailed the campaign, and the result would ultimately determine the direction of the WSL title during the 2019/20 season, with Chelsea crowned champions by virtue of points-per-game.
