Mexico is in for a rough time at the 2022 World Cup after drawing in Group C, against Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia.

El Tri clinched their spot in the tournament after finishing the qualifying cycle in second place on the Concacaf table with 28 points in 13 games. Now, they must overcome Conmebol and Europe’s best to thrive in Qatar.

This isn’t the first time Mexico will face Lionel Messi’s Argentina at a World Cup. El Tri played La Albiceleste in 2010 during the round of 16, where Argentina triumphed 3-1 with goals from Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain to overcome Chicharito’s single shot.

It’s been a while since Mexico last confronted Poland, however. The two nations faced off in June 1970, as Poland defeated El Tri 3-1. Qatar 2022 will be the first time Mexico and Saudi Arabia meet in the international tournament.
