Women's Euro 2022: Every Lyon player called up for the tournament

Lyon will have 11 of their players at Euro 2022 this summer, spread across six countries and all four of the tournament's groups.

It could actually have been more for the newly re-crowned European club champions, with star midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan missing out through injury. She would have been one of Germany's key players had she been fit enough to go.

Meanwhile, Amandine Henry and Eugenie Le Sommer were both left out by France, while Sarah Bouhaddi retired from international football in 2020 after citing problems with Corinne Diacre.

1. Selma Bacha (France)

Selma Bacha has stepped up for club and country over the last year or so and played a major role in Lyon's Champions League triumph. She succeeds Amel Majri, who is taking time away from football to have a baby.

Signe Bruun spent the second half of the season on loan at Manchester United but didn't play all that much because of injury. The striker will be keen to give a good account of herself for Denmark this summer.

3. Delphine Cascarino (France)

Delphine Cascarino has been there and done it multiple times over for Lyon at club level. But like so many talented French players of her generation, something has been missing at international level.

Janice Cayman is Belgium's most capped player of all time and will be looking to lead by example for one of the tournament underdogs. The 33-year-old will face several Lyon clubmates in the group stage.

5. Sara Dabritz (Germany)

Sara Dabritz is the newest face at Lyon, having agreed to join the club following her recent departure from domestic rivals Paris Saint-Germain. Even at just 27, Euro 2022 is her sixth major tournament.

6. Damaris Egurrola (Netherlands)

Lyon midfielder Damaris Egurrola was born in the United States and raised in Spain, for whom she made her international debut in 2019. But she made the switch to Netherlands earlier this year.

7. Ada Hegerberg (Norway)

One of the biggest headlines in women's football this year has been the return of Ada Hegerberg from several years of international abstinence. An already talented Norway are suddenly a dark horse contender for glory.

8. Melvine Malard (France)

Melvine Malard has just turned 22 and is among a number of young forwards in the French squad, which is without the likes of Eugenie Le Sommer and Valerie Gauvin, both left out.

Central defender Griedge Mbock Bathy made her international debut for France in 2013 and has been to major tournaments in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. In that time, Le Bleues have never been beyond a quarter-final.

10. Wendie Renard (France)

Despite being among a number of players to have had run-ins with French coach Corinne Diacre, Wendie Renard remains part of the setup. With other veterans left out in the cold, she is arguably now more important than ever.

11. Danielle van de Donk (Netherlands)

Euro 2017 champion Danielle van de Donk made it into the Netherlands squad for this summer, despite missing most of the 2021/22 club season with Lyon. She is world class on her day, but doubts persist over her fitness.
