Women's Euro 2022: Every Barcelona player called up for the tournament

Barcelona will be very well represented at Euro 2022 this summer. But not only do the Catalans form the bulk of the Spain team many expect to go all the way, they have players in the Sweden, England and Norway squads, which potentially means lots of fan interest in the latter stages.

Leila Ouahabi and Lieke Martens have been called up by Spain and Netherlands respectively but have both recently left the club.

1. Aitana Bonmati (Spain)

Aitana Bonmati is often reduced to an afterthought compared to midfield partner Alexia Putellas when it comes to the headlines, but she is equally as valuable for both Barcelona and Spain.

2. Lucy Bronze (England)

Lucy Bronze will start her Barcelona career after Euro 2022 after signing with the club following her decision to leave Manchester City. Big things are expected of her in an England shirt on home soil.

3. Mariona Caldentey (Spain)

Injury forced Mariona Caldentey to miss a couple of months of the club season, but she returned to fitness in time for the run-in and started the Champions League final against Lyon.

At 31 years of age and with well over a century of international caps, Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic is among the most experienced players going to Euro 2022, let alone just in the Switzerland squad.

5. Ingrid Engen (Norway)

Ingrid Engen rose to prominence at the 2019 World Cup in an impressive Norway side that is now far stronger with the return of superstar striker Ada Hegerberg. Engen is also much more experienced than back then.

6. Patri Guijarro (Spain)

Patri Guijarro has it all at the heart of midfield for her club and country. The 24-year-old provides balance for the likes of Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas to perform but also chips in with goals of her own.

7. Caroline Graham Hansen (Norway)

Caroline Graham Hansen traded Wolfsburg for Barcelona in advance of the World Cup three years ago. The Norwegian then impressed at that tournament and only gone from strength to strength since.

Mapi Leon's Spain career pre-dates her Barcelona career, having made her debut for La Roja while playing for Atletico Madrid in 2016. This will be her third tournament overall and her second European Championship.

Considering she made her international debut 11 years ago, Sandra Panos has relatively few caps. That is largely because she has had to share responsibilities with Lola Gallardo.

Irene Paredes will have celebrated her 31st birthday just a few days before Spain play their first game against Finland. She has seen first-hand in her career La Roja transform from rank outsiders to genuine contenders.

Andrea Pereira will offer defensive depth in Spain's squad and is a veteran of both Euro 2017 and the 2019 World Cup. She has been there and done it at club level, winning trophies with Espanyol, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Claudia Pina enjoyed a breakout season with Barcelona in 2021/22 and notably scored important goals in both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid. She will be an X-factor for Spain.

13. Alexia Putellas (Spain)

Alexia Putellas is the face of Spanish women's football. This is far from her first tournament, having been to four previous major competitions since 2013, but her first with her new found fame and the associated expectation.

Fridolina Rolfo nicely encapsulates Sweden's position ahead of Euro 2022. She is 28, has been an international for seven years and it at her peak, as well as having the experience of back-to-back Olympic silver medals.
