The Women's World Cup has created numerous legends since it was first played in 1991 but it is usually the players who score the goals that are most fondly remembered.

The United States have dominated the goalscoring charts over the year, both as a team and individual players, owing to their overall success in the competition. It is a similar story for Germany, who remain the only other nation to have lifted the trophy more than once.

But various Scandinavian and Chinese players have also come up big from time to time, while Brazilian players feature on the top scorer lists - both at single tournaments and all tme.
