Tickets for the Euro 2022 final at Wembley sold out within 43 minutes of going on general sale, and could set an all-time high attendance record for a European Championship final.

To celebrate 100 days to go until the tournament kicks off at Old Trafford on 6 July, all remaining tickets for the finals went on general sale at 8am (BST) on Monday. Those who had pre-registered for tickets have had previous opportunities to purchase tickets since July 2021.

By 8:43am (BST), UEFA announced that tickets for the final at Wembley on 31 July had sold out.

"Demand was extremely high for the Final and all available tickets have now sold-out," the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 official ticketing account wrote on Twitter. "Additional tickets may be released at a later date however this is not guaranteed."

Less than an hour later, it was announced that England vs Northern Ireland at St Mary's on 15 July had also sold out. The fixture is the pair's final group stage match of the competition, with Northern Ireland's women's team making their maiden major tournament appearance.

With all available tickets for the final sold, more potentially closer to the time and total capacity at 90,000, there is potential for a new all-time attendance record at any European Championship final in history - male or female.

The current attendance record is 79,115 - set at the Bernabeu for the 1964 final between the Soviet Union and Spain. Hosts Spain won 2-1.
