Women's Champions League - matchday 2 results

The Women’s Champions League group stage returned for matchday two this week, with eight games spread across Europe on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal, Lyon, PSG, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have all been in action.

Here's a rundown of what happened...

Wednesday 13 September

Group A

Wolfsburg 5-0 Servette

Two-time former Champions League winners Wolfsburg made light work of their clash with Switzerland's Servette, racing into a 3-0 lead in the first half alone.

Svenja Huth got the opening goal just under 20 minutes, followed soon by a first half brace from Tabea Wassmuth, taking her tally in the competition to four goals in two games already. Dominique Janssen got the fourth soon after half-time, while Joelle Smits rounded off the rout.

Juventus 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea edged a hard fought contest against Juventus in front of more than 16,000 people at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, with Pernille Harder scoring the crucial goal with just over 20 minutes left.

Erin Cuthbert had given Chelsea a first half half lead with a driving run into the penalty area, but it lasted only a few minutes before Barbara Bonansea got Juve back level. And while Chelsea did go on to win, the Italian champions were never out of the game.

Group B

Paris Saint-Germain 5-0 Zhytlobud-1 Kharkiv

Canadian forward Jordyn Huitema scored the first Champions League hat-trick of the season in PSG's crushing win over Ukraine's Zhytlobud-1 Kharkiv.

Huitema's treble came in the first 43 minutes of the one-sided contest, with PSG's dominance never in doubt. Paulina Dudek got a fourth for the French champions just before the hour mark, before Lea Khelifi made it 5-0 in the final few moments.

Real Madrid 5-0 Breidablik

PSG's Huitema wasn't the only player to score a hat-trick as that feat was matched only a couple of hours later by Real Madrid forward Caroline Moller, whose treble also came inside the first half.

Moller's first goal only six minutes in was of the highest quality, with the Dane's touch setting her for the strike. She added another goal in the 20 minute and a third right before half-time. Olga Carmona got Real's fourth immediately after the break, with Lorena Navarro making it 5-0 late on.

Thursday 14 September

Group C

Koge 0-2 Barcelona

Having won comfortably against an otherwise impressive Arsenal side on matchday one, a rotated Barcelona found things a little against Danish champions Koge this time around.

It wasn't until the second half that the holders made the breakthrough, with summer Swedish forward Fridolina Rolfo getting the all-important first goal just over an hour in. Barcelona also missed a number of chances, but Jenni Hermoso sealed the win from the penalty spot late on.

Arsenal 4-0 Hoffenheim

Arsenal turned a 4-1 defeat to Barcelona on matchday one into a 4-0 win over Champions League newcomers Hoffenheim on matchday two.

Two goals in the first half from Kim Little and Tobin Heath, the latter making her first ever start in a European club competition, and two more goals from Vivianne Miedema and Leah Williamson in the second half secured the comfortable Gunners victory.

Group D

Bayern Munich 4-0 Hacken

Bayern Munich got their first win of this season's competition after previously opening with a disappointing 0-0 draw with Benfica on matchday one.

This time, there was no concern of a repeat right from the opening stages. Germany international Lea Schuller scored a quickfire brace inside the the first 11 minutes, ending the game as a contest. Linda Dallman got a third in the second half, before Jovana Damnjanovic struck in stoppage time.

Lyon 5-0 Benfica

Lyon continue to flex muscles as they attempt to win back their Champions League crown, making light work of Benfica in a routine 5-0 thrashing.

A brace from centre-back Kadeisha Buchanan was complemented by goals from Danielle van de Donk, Melvine Malard and Catatina Macario. There were also more minutes on the pitch for Ada Hegerberg off the bench as she further builds up her fitness after 20 months out.
