Wolves team news
Wolves are boosted by the improving fitness of Daniel Podence, Willy Boly and summer signing Yerson Mosquera. Podence in particular managed to play 60 minutes of the EFL Cup tie against Forest in midweek and got on the scoresheet.
Coach Bruno Lage remains without Pedro Neto and Jonny Castro. Neto suffered a setback in his recovery from a broken kneecap in the week and is unlikely to return until 2022.
Man Utd team news
United have reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, but the returning Portuguese hero still needs to complete the transfer before he can make his second debut.
Scott McTominay has joined United’s list of absentees after undergoing groin surgery in the last few days. Marcus Rashford, Alex Telles and Dean Henderson also remain out, but it is possible that Raphael Varane could make his United debut, while Jadon Sancho will be hoping for a first start.
Edinson Cavani could also be involved for the first time this season after an extended holiday.

Wolves vs Man Utd head-to-head record
Once the best two teams in England in the mid/late-1950s, United have won 51 games to Wolves’ 36, with 20 draws in 107 meetings over the last 129 years.
Since Wolves were promoted back to the Premier League in 2018, these meetings have typically been very tight with few goals. Half of the six league meetings in that time have ended as draws and the other games have only been won by one goal either way.
The most recent meeting saw United win 2-1 at Molineux at the end of last season.
Wolves vs Man Utd prediction
Because this game has rarely produced a lot of goals in the recent past it is difficult to predict that it suddenly will do now.
Wolves have narrowly lost back-to-back games at the start of what could end up being a difficult season, although a 4-0 win in the EFL Cup in midweek may have helped build some confidence.
United, meanwhile, have had two very different performances so far, tearing Leeds apart and then failing to do much of anything against Southampton only a week later. But the news that Cristiano Ronaldo is returning to the club may give everyone a mental lift, while the team is still yet to benefit from the summer arrivals of Sancho or Varane.
Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Manchester United
